The Vancouver Canucks kicked off their road trip in style, getting handily beaten down in Florida. They look uninspired against the Hurricanes. Anna & Chris share if they reamin firmly seated on the playoffs bandwagon, talk about the NHL All-Star game in detail, and share why hockey culture makes it hard for them at times. Whether Chris cursed the schedule last episode or not, the Vancouver Canucks have not played since we last recorded after they postponed the game against the Senators on fairly short notice. Yet with them back in action Tuesday (maybe) against the Panthers, they will have had no games for 10 days and will play 11 games squeezed into the second half of the month (20 days). Anna & Chris break down expectations for the team on this return to the ice, what options the team & league will have to figure out the schedule, and Anna has an idea for the All-Star Game. It's the dawn of a new calendar year, and the Canucks remain undefeated in 2022! Before their 2021 campaign came to a screeching halt, the Vancouver Canucks rattled off even more wins to keep the streak alive under new coach Bruce Boudreau. To help explain why this was even possible is Chris Faber, co-host/producer/writer of many things. The two Chris' wax long about what it's like to be engaged by this entertaining brand of hockey we were witnessing, and wonder aloud if the team will be able to continue the unexpected run once games return. On that note, Faber gives his thoughts on the changes that took place in the organization a couple weeks back and what he thinks the league will do in the face of a resurgent virus. Just over a week ago, the Vancouver Canucks made some organizational changes with ownership pledging to take on a long & exhaustive search to find the right person. Three days later, Jim Rutherford is hired as the President of Hockey Operations and it comes to light he was already offered the job. To help unpack everything, including a phenomenal string of Canucks games in the past week, Clay Imoo rejoins Chris (with Anna back home for the holidays) to offer up some sage insight. Ch-ch-changes - Dec. 6, 2021

Monday Dec 06, 2021

Monday Dec 06, 2021

While the Canucks wrapped up their road trip with a dominant win in Ottawa, a dismal loss at home against the Pittsburgh Penguins - a game where a loud Fire Benning chant was heard on broadcast & a jersey was thrown on the ice - resulted in some late-night Sunday changes here in Vancouver. Jim Benning, John Weisbrod, Travis Green & Nolan Baumgartner are out. Bruce Boudreau & Scott Walker are in. The Steamer is the interim. And this all took place on a night where we planned on recording the podcast early as it was. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

With the Vancouver Canucks about to wrap up another rough road trip in Ottawa, Anna & Chris wonder if the win against the Montreal Canadians is enough to steady the ship. Speaking of the Canadians, who knew that you could make changes this early in a season after going to the Stanley Cup Final the year before!? The pair also wonder if changes will be made upon the Canucks returning to Vancouver, or if it's simply a quesiton that will continue to be asked day-by-day. Learn more about your ad choices. In a week that contained a fairly comfortable win, a one-goal loss, and a loss to one of the league’s best teams, Chris and Anna find a way to be negative - though they still believe this podcast is the C4 Canucks Playoffs Podcast. The Vancouver Canucks don't look good, have yet to figure out how to shore up the penalty kill, are taking things day-to-day after some internal meetings, and are making all sorts of phone calls too. What a time to be a fan! Bad Weather - Nov. 16, 2021

Tuesday Nov 16, 2021

Tuesday Nov 16, 2021

Despite this still being the C4 Canucks Playoffs Podcast, there's not much to suggest a storm is brewing with the effort the Vancouver Canucks provided on this recent roadtrip. Anna & Chris recap how it all went so wrong, whether or not a change on the bench or in the front-office will happen, and if this team is as poorly constructed as some suggest. The two also take a look back at Jim Benning's tenure as a General Manager in Vancouver and ascertain if "two more years" is what's needed for the Canucks to win a Cup. After a rough start to their opening homestand, the Vancouver Canucks not only figured how to score on the power play - at least against the Dallas Stars - yet they also figured out how to get two wins out of three in the past week. So long as you ignore the lacklustre effort in two of those games, and the requirement that Thatcher Demko go full matrix to make save after save. Anna & Chris talk stock of the week that was, wonder about the week that will be, and discuss what changes will be made - to goaltender safety, to hockey culture, to the leaders of the NHL and the NHLPA.
